Picasso and the Portraits of Marie-Thérèse
Six Paintings. One Concept

Marie-Thérèse Walter was a model that appeared in dozens of Picasso’s works and, as we can imagine, she was also one of the greatest loves of the artist. Besides she was Maya’s mother. Maya was Picasso’s daughter whom he portrayed many times.
he paintings of Marie-Therese are sensual and quiet. There is dissociation —features are out of place and disproportioned, the “Picasso style”— but that dissociation is more balanced and less dramatic than in other works of the artist. Picasso uses the curve more here, which generates more sensuality.
