Moments of Andrea Mantegna

Andrea Mantegna is one of the most representative painters of the Quattrocento. In his works, we clearly see the obsession with proportions and perspective. His work, Lamentation over the Dead Christ is one of the most famous foreshortenings of the Renaissance in particular, and of the history of art, in general.

It was a time in which life and art were ceasing to revolve around God and the Church to make the human being the center of everything (anthropocentrism). In his works, we can also appreciate something that was relevant at that time: the expression of the faces, making them decidedly more human, more earthly.
