Velázquez, the Painter of the Greatness and the Miseries of Men

Six Paintings. One Concept

We could make this publication thanks to small donations. How is 3 minutos de arte supported?

Velázquez is considered “painter of painters” due to his skill to show the soul of the characters, of giving them life. He gets to show the greatness and miseries of the human essence with some quick brushstrokes, with a few features.

His characters are not idealized, and that is the key: Velázquez discovers that in imperfection, in ordinary features is where life beats.
